Clyde Creek Primary School Specialist Campus

Clyde Creek Primary School Specialist Campus is located on Bunurong Country and caters for around 50 students who have a mild to severe intellectual disability, with a minority also having a physical disability. This compact campus is co-located with Clyde Creek Primary School and aims to foster an inclusive connection with the primary school and the growing community.

The educational journey for students with specialist needs extends beyond classroom-based learning activities and requires a holistic approach to student wellbeing to ensure that students do not feel isolated from their peers in the mainstream environment. The specialist campus aims to provide a welcoming learning setting that remains domestic and familiar in its scale to ensure student comfort, whilst also introducing playful design elements to encourage curiosity and growth.

It also fosters a strong connection to the outdoors by utilising sensory landscape elements and passive design features that ensure surveillance and safety of students without implementing intrusive physical barriers.

The specialist campus is an important addition to a rapidly growing area of Melbourne, providing much-needed specialist education facilities in an inclusive setting that is welcoming to both students and visitors.

Our vision is that this school will be much more to the students than a classroom; it will be a place away from home and a significant foray into the outside world. The school will provide an environment where students will feel comfortable and confident to embrace challenges, take risks in their learning and develop to their full potential.
