The Light Collection IV

2018 | Penang, Malaysia | Multi-Residential

The Light Collection IV at Penang Island is a striking waterfront residential development of 3 Residential Slab Blocks and 25 private villas hugging a meandering shoreline; connected to a landscaped public piazza featuring a swimming pool, wading pool, playgrounds etc. as its centerpiece.

Conceptually, the project explores an elaboration of varying architectural elements relating with the water – the wave, the dots and the line. Thus, the ‘layered effect’ has been created in the overall scheme. Metaphorically, the sea, representing the wave, filters through the water villas (dots) and washes up to the shore (podium), stopping at the door step of the Apartment Blocks (lines).

The effect of this design is that of a dynamic interplay of planes and orthogonal volumes, of simple and clearly defined lines with certain porosity towards the sea and reinforces waterfront living. The big team of architect provided the synergy and help pushes the concept & design at a higher level. This creates a more vibrant village like environment rather than a sterile singular entity.
