NGV Summer Pavilion Competition

During the summer months, the Grollo Equiset Garden is populated by visitors taking a break from the gallery, and otherwise lunching, reading, or attending a range of evening events.

The Swingset Pavillion is a suspended fabric swingset in the heart of the Garden that turns observers into participants, and creates a kinetic focal point for Garden users.

The form of the pavilion is defined by dramatically draped fabric, which changes shape as guests occupy the swings below. A billowing visual display is performed in accordance with the movement and number of participants on the swings, encouraging playful interaction as guests test the effect of different seating arrangements upon the garb reacting overhead.
