Homestead Senior Secondary College

2020 | Point Cook, Victoria, Australia | Education

With its bold façade located along the main road of newly established residential estates, Homestead Senior Secondary College sets an assertive presence within its community.

As part of our joint venture with Architectus, the Growth Areas Schools Project (GASP) aims to deliver educational infrastructure to growing communities across Victoria. Located within the suburb of Point Cook, Homestead Senior Secondary College accommodates local students from year 10 to year 12.

The school is comprised of the three-storey main building and the Performing Arts and Physical Education (PAPE) building. The main building incorporates general classrooms, connected by ‘informal zones’ that encourage collaborative learning. Specialist facilities such as science labs, a materials workshop and art spaces are included within the main building. The PAPE provides competition grade sports facilities and rooms to facilitate music, drama, and food tech classes.

Acknowledging the importance of the local and rural history of the site, the design of the main building draws inspiration from the natural formations of creek beds and wetland basins. The interior layout is connected through a system of collaborative spaces, with terraces providing pockets of natural light into the space and views out to the natural landscape.
