Casa ORO

Casa ORO is the definition of a tropical luxury escape, where the terraced landscapes, rear water feature, and a warm palette of timber and stone come together to create a serene, resort-like atmosphere. The timber screens, expansive roof overhangs, and soft evening illumination give the home a tranquil yet striking presence when mirrored in the stillness of the courtyard pool.
The architectural form is conceived as a composition of two elongated rectilinear volumes set perpendicular to one another. One stretches linearly along the rear landscape, while the second crosses it at a right angle. This configuration defines the courtyards and creates a layered experience of arrival. At their intersection, a pair of sculptural staircases serves as a focal point, linking the spaces seamlessly.
The spiral staircase, on the other hand, is finished with a warm timber underside and a glossy black laquered finish. Leading from the ground-floor social spaces to the family’s private rooms on the second floor, the spiral stair becomes both a functional connector and an architectural centerpiece.
The ground-floor living room opens directly toward the central courtyard, embracing the pool and greenery as part of the everyday living experience. Connected via two hidden doors, the generous dining spaces are set to enjoy views of the rear landscape, allowing meals to unfold against a serene, sculpted backdrop.
The grand staircase creates a sense permanence, is clad in Cipollino Ondulato marble on the upper levels and transition to a different marble as it descends to the basement. This transition parallels a change in space—from a double-volume space to a more intimate, Cosmo Giallo cave.
The experience changes once again at the base of the stairs where it opens to the basement foyer. Suspended above, the sculptural pendant cluster highlights the rich characteristic of the floor material while showcasing the wine cellar behind displaying the client’s collection as both a feature wall and an expression of personal taste.
The warm coloured screen that wraps around the envelope of the upper floor adds depth and texture to the house silhouette. Beyond its visual, the timber screen serves as a passive shading element—reducing glare and enhancing privacy, —embodying both beauty and climatic sensitivity in the home’s design. The façade is further articulated with vertical formliner concrete. The ribbed profile animates the surface with changing light as it connects the interior and exterior spaces.
